Studio Policy

Tuition Payments

My Studio’s regular schedule starts Tuesday after Labor day and ends after the summer recital,  usually the 3rd Saturday of  June.
Monthly tuition is due the first lesson of each month.

Make-up Lessons

Only the lessons missed during school vacation don’t need to be made up. Missed lessons can be made up on Saturdays as well as during school vacation weeks including summer vacation.
When unable to attend a lesson students must notify Marblehead Piano Studio within a minimum of 6 hours prior to lesson time. If a notice is given, then a make-up lesson will be scheduled at the earliest possible date. Exceptions are sudden illness or emergency in the family as well as unexpected bad weather that makes driving unsafe.

Lessons during school vacation are optional.

Discontinuation of lessons

Students wishing to discontinue lessons should give two weeks notice. If lessons are terminated in the middle of a month, the remainder of that month’s tuition will not be refunded.

Music Books and Supplies

During the semester students will be supplied with music and materials as needed. I will be happy to lend the books from the Studio library to my students as long as I have an additional copy of the book available. If I do not have an extra copy of the required book, I will ask the students´ parents to purchase the book.

Recitals

There will be two recitals per year – one in January and one in June. Participation in recitals is completely optional, but strongly encouraged. Families and friends are invited to attend.

Practice Time

I recommend allocating uninterrupted practice time daily. I expect my students to come to the lessons prepared and ready to learn new material. The duration of the student’s home practice session should be at least as long as their lesson. During home practice the students are required to do their homework following written and spoken instructions that I gave them at the previous lesson. The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable, but it is also work! I need parents’ help to motivate and support students, and to make music study a productive experience.
If you have any questions or concerns, I will be happy to discuss them with you.
